Job Details

One of the oldest and most distinguished Anthropology departments in Africa seeks to appoint a Lecturer on 3-year contract, to begin in the first half of 2017. We seek applicants who are energetic and creative in research and writing, and who are passionate about teaching socio-cultural anthropology to a diverse group of South African and international students, both undergraduate and postgraduate. The successful applicant will have a PhD in hand, proven strengths in ethnographic research. Given that this is a contract position that will replace existing teaching and supervision provisions in the department, the candidate must have particular research and teaching expertise in Medical Anthropology as well as in Urban Anthropology. Preference will be given to candidates who have a broad Africanist and Global South orientation.

Qualifications - PhD and appropriate teaching and research experience.
