Professor in Law (two posts available)

The University of Bristol Law School is a leading UK law school with an international reputation for outstanding teaching and research.  Ranked 5^th for research intensity in REF2014, the law school is home to a diverse, inclusive academic community which aspires to the highest standards in legal education and research.  Housed in the iconic Wills Memorial Building with elegant additional premises close by in Berkeley Square, the Law School represents a unique blend of tradition and innovation, offering an educational experience which challenges and empowers students and a research and scholarship environment in which academic originality and excellence flourish.

The School seeks to recruit two outstanding Professors in Law to join our thriving academic environment, contribute to research and teaching therein and provide strong and effective academic leadership.  We particularly welcome applications in the fields of Tort, Contract, Criminal Law, Property, Trusts, Public Law, Company and/or Commercial Law (broadly construed).

Applicants should have an outstanding track record of published research, recognised internationally and predominantly of 3* or 4* quality measured by REF2014 standards; evidence of broad knowledge and deep expertise in their area(s) of scholarship; evidence of strong managerial, administrative and leadership skills; and extensive teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate level.  In addition applications should have a completed PhD or equivalent in law and a strong honours degree at undergraduate level or equivalent in law or a law-related subject.

There are two full time posts (1 FTE x2) available, however the School is open to requests for part time working.  The posts are available from 1 August 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.
