The Division of Laboratory Medicine, Department of Pathology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham is recruiting for a junior faculty position as an Instructor. The primary responsibility (75%) will be research/scholarly activities and 25% teaching and technical director of the new Exoteric Coagulation lab. The appointment will be non-tenure earning. The successful candidate must currently have a MD, MD/PhD or PhD degree. Candidates must have substantial research expertise (five or more years) and strong publication record in the area of thrombosis and hemostasis. The successful candidate is also expected to develop an independent basic or translational research program and to participate in graduate student teaching and develop exoteric coagulation tests in a CLIA-certified laboratory. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience and background.

In addition, physicians and other clinical faculty candidates who will be employed by the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation (UAHSF) or other UAB Medicine entities must successfully complete a pre-employment drug and nicotine screen to be hired.
