Job Details
Enthusiastic hydrogeologist with keen interest in contaminant hydrogeology and risk assessment, who can demonstrate proficiency in the following:
- Detailed site conceptualisation and design of intrusive investigation.
- Data collection, collation and management.
- Familiarity with databases and GIS is desirable but not essential.
- Experience of fieldwork, including:Health and safety awareness and ability to prepare Health & Safety plans for site works, conduct safety audits and present toolbox talks to a site team
- Site surveys
- Site investigation (supervision of drilling and excavation works) with the ability to design and instruct the installation of environmental monitoring wells
- Collection of environmental samples (including, but not limited to: groundwater, surface water, soil, ground gas, vapour) with an awareness of factors affecting sample quality
- Awareness of a variety of field techniques - excavation, sampling and testing
- Hydraulic testing
- Data analysis - geological, hydrogeological, contaminant
- Factual and interpretative report writing
- Hydrogeological risk assessment with familiarity of tools including P20 and Consim.
- Experience of groundwater modelling tools such as MODFLOW is desirable but not essential.
- Good communication skills and ability to work within a team as well as independently
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Attention to detail
- Knowledge of environmental regulatory regime within the UK
- Awareness of remediation technologies
- Commercial awareness with experience or interest in project management
- Ability to manage and mentor junior staff
Academic Background:
Degree in Environmental Science/Geology/Hydrogeology and/or Masters in Hydrogeology.
Understanding of fluid flow and contaminant fate and transport.
Valid driving licence
Desirable additional training/qualifications:
