Job Details

The School of Public Health

Established in 2001, the School of Public Health aims to improve health outcomes through learning, discovery and engagement. The School of Public Health has recently been ranked as the top Public Health school in Australasia in the US News Global university rankings. We are a global leader in improving the health of populations in a changing and inequitable world. The School is one of three within The University of Queensland's Faculty of Medicine.

The Mothers and their Children's Health (MatCH) project, funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council, combines detailed data from the 1973-78 cohort of the Australian Longitudinal Study on Women's Health (ALSWH) with new survey data on their children.  The project aims to advance understanding of child health and development by investigating the history of maternal and family characteristics, along with their effects on the health and development of the children in the family.

The role

The successful appointee will use data collected through the MatCH survey, as well as other linked data, to examine children's health, development, and health service use, and how these are associated with their mother's health history and the family environment. This position includes opportunities to generate research publications, to present research findings nationally and internationally, and to develop research fellowship and grant applications related to the project.

The person

The ideal candidate will possess qualifications in relevant disciplines, coupled with a strong desire to develop a successful and highly-productive career in lifecourse research. You will have demonstrated excellent general research skills, experience in quantitative analysis of public health related data, and the ability to work within multidisciplinary research teams. Experience with statistical analysis of large datasets and linked administrative data will be highly regarded.

The University of Queensland values diversity and inclusion.

Applications are particularly encouraged from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term 2 year appointment at Academic level A or B. The remuneration package will be in the range $64,533.50 - $87,535.13 p.a. for Level A and $92,142.74 - $109,419.20 p.a. for Level B, plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $75,504.19 - $102,416.10 p.a. for Level A and $107,807 - $128,020.46 p.a. for Level B).
