PhD student position available to develop his/her thesis within the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Networks (MSCA-ITN-EID) action ‘4D analysis of heart development and regeneration using advanced light microscopy — 4DHeart’, a highly multidisciplinary, intersectoral and competitive training programme in cardiovascular research.
Project: ESR3 - 3D and 3Dt Atlas of cardiac development in the zebrafish
Description of the project: the project aims at generating a 3D and 3Dt atlas of zebrafish heart using advanced in vivo imaging and image processing. The PhD student will perform imaging in transgenic zebrafish lines specifically labeling different cardiac layers using advanced fluorescence microscopy. The student will develop spatial and temporal registration tools to integrate the multidimensional imaging data into a model (or atlas) of cardiac development. The student will be exposed to a multidisciplinary group of translational researchers and developers focused in optical microscopy, image processing and computer vision. The student will learn principles, acquisition, and processing skills mainly in microscopy and computer science.

Eligibility: Candidates must be in the first four years (full-time equivalent) of their research careers and have not yet been awarded a doctoral degree. In addition, she/he must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies) in France for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the recruitment date.
