The School for Policy Studies is looking for an Information Officer (Easy Read) to help with the Learning Disabilities Mortality review programme. The role of the Information Officer (Easy Read) is to help make difficult information easy to understand for someone with learning disabilities. This will involve helping to produce materials in ‘easy read’ or video formats, and talking about the work to people with learning disabilities and others.

Candidates should have previous experience of helping to make difficult words easy to understand for people with learning disabilities; be able to use a computer to write text, cut and paste words and pictures, and save work; relevant life experience as a person that uses easy read information or previous experience in a relevant role; and good communication (written and oral) skills.

This post is an open ended contract with fixed term funding from 3 April 2017 – 31 May 2018.  The post is for 6 hours per week and is based at our office at the University of Bristol but some travel will be required (approximately every two to three months) to work with people with learning disabilities in other parts of England, with support if required.

If required, a job coach will be available to work with the successful candidate until they understand the work.

The closing date for applications is 23:59 on Friday 10th March 2017
