JOB PURPOSE:

The post-holder will join a multi-professional team to deliver a faculty facing, client based, HR Business Partner service and support
the vision to become a world class international university.

MAJOR DUTIES:

1. Provide a professional HR service to a dedicated team supporting the corporate wide and faculty business agenda.
2. Provide generalist support to line managers on a wide range of people management issues including recruitment and selection,
performance management, training and development, employee relations and absence management.
3. Support and where appropriate under the direction of the HR Business Partner, advise Schools on the Academic Promotion and
Confirmation in Post processes.
4. Contribute to the effective delivery of the University’s Human Resources Strategy, key institutional priorities and HR K.P.I’s.
5. Ensure that all administration is completed to the highest standards of accuracy and responsive service delivery timescales.
6. Support the application of creative approaches in respect of problem solving to positively address sensitive and confidential matters.
7. Assist in the production of relevant management reports to inform discussions with managers at a local level.
8. Work as an effective and proactive team member of both the faculty and central personnel teams.
9. Ensure that the university’s employment policies and procedures are implemented effectively.
10. Contribute to project work within the faculty and central Personnel teams.

Planning and Organising:
1. Plans and organises own workload within the context of the broad departmental objectives set by the HR Business Partner.
2. Ability to successfully manage high volume workload and maintain high standards.

Resource Management Responsibilities:
1. Applies strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure.

Internal and External Relationships:
1. Establish and maintain close working relationships with colleagues from other professional services/Schools within the faculty.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

1. A degree.
2. Graduate membership of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
3. Minimum 3 years’ experience in delivering a proactive, comprehensive, direct client facing HR service within a large organisation.
4. High level knowledge of current HR practice with sound understanding of employment legislation and relevant codes of practice.
5. Experience in the production of management information to inform business solutions.
6. Evidence of successful problem solving skills.
7. Good communication skills both oral and written.
8. Able to communicate with and relate to people at all levels both internally and externally.
9. Strong planning and organisational skills.
10. Ability to work effectively as part of a multi professional team.
11. Ability to work to tight deadlines and with the highest standards of accuracy.
12. Ability to relate to customers in a proactive way and develop creative solutions.
13. Flexibility and ability to work irregular hours on an occasional basis as required.
