The University of Southampton seeks a Head of Quality, Standards and Accreditation and Assistant Director (Student and Academic Administration) (SAA) to lead and manage the strategic and administrative operations of the Quality, Standards and Accreditation Team (QSAT), and to provide support for the Academic Registrar.

You will be responsible for securing the overall quality and standards of the University’s academic provision, developing, implementing and reviewing the University’s quality assurance framework and key processes ensuring they are well-matched to national expectations and support the University’s strategic objectives. You will provide advice on educational policy and strategic development, as well as having oversight of the development, delivery and review of academic policy, quality assurance and enhancement across the institution, leading and directing the work of the QSAT to achieve this.

As Assistant Director you will work closely the Academic Registrar and other Assistant Directors to develop the vision and strategy for the future SAA Directorate. Further information about the structure and scope of Student and Academic Administration can be found at http://www.southampton.ac.uk/studentadmin/about_saa/.

With significant knowledge of quality assurance and enhancement in higher education, you will have a proven, successful track record of effective strategic leadership and management in this field, with the ability to lead, inspire and influence teams and individuals for whom the post holder has no line management responsibility, including members of the University’s senior management teams and external contacts.

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the current Higher Education context, be solution-focussed with excellent communication and negotiation skills, and demonstrate the ability to think creatively and innovatively with a commitment to continual enhancement.  Experience of leading a QAA Higher Education Review/Institutional Review is desirable.
