IT Services at the University of Auckland is responsible for the delivery of the central applications and infrastructure to support the staff, students and community of the University of Auckland. Our primary objective is to provide technology-related services that support the University's core functions of Teaching & Learning and Research, together with enhancing the student experience.

The Data Centre team is looking for a Data Centre Technician, reporting directly to the Data Centre Manager.

The role

This is an exciting, multi-phase role responsible for the day-to-day administration and support of the University’s Data Centres and Server Rooms. You’ll take the lead in coordinating IT equipment deployment and ensuring adherence to our data centre operations standards and procedures.  

You’ll also ensure that the Data Centre monitoring tool is accurate and up-to-date and functioning as expected, whilst maintaining all operations systems and performing all emergency functions required for smooth operations.

The Technician we’re seeking must have the following skills and experience:

  • Data Centre certified professional, or tertiary qualification in ICT or networking;
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • A track record of successful data centre support and hardware installations in large / enterprise data centre.
  • Background in data centre management, computer hardware installation, operations monitoring and networking.
