Group Leader Electrical Contact Systems for Automotive

This a brand new opportunity to step into the role of Group Leader for Electrical Contact Systems with a focus on driving innovation in the development of electrical contact and soldering systems for Automotive Applications. You will be directly managing and leading a team of 7 R&D experts who will report into and a large part of your role will include co-ordinating and assigning research & development projects whilst also giving continious technical training, help and guidance, which allow you to have a direct impact on the success of your team while also assisting them in their professional growth so you will get an enormous sense of satisfaction from your work.

You will be based at the company's R&D center in the Cologne area of Germany which offers easy access to Belgium and Netherlands, excellent transport links to the rest of Germany and one of the most scenic landscapes in Germany, giving you a great quality of life outside work. The company you will be joining are a huge international business group that supply into the building & construction industry and are the only company worldwide that are able to supply all the required materials to build full residential & commercial properties, so they have a massive amount of technologies which they develop and manufacture in the group, making it an exciting place to base your career.

You will be joining a part of the business group that is responsible for the development and manufacture of glass systems. The company supply into the Automotive & Transport sectors and are one of the biggest players in this market, with an international brand reputation that is unsurpassed in Europe, so it's a great place to be if you want to boost your employment profile because having their name in your employment history will make you a highly desirable candidate for other companies in the industry.

With 7 people in your group, including 3 PhD Developers, 2 Laboratory Assistants and 2 Development Engineers, it's a very multi-functional team with a range of expertise in different areas of development which actually allows you to handle most development problems using your own team's resources, so you can turn new projects around on a very short timeline.

Requirements:

• Academic Degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
• At least 5 years industry experience in Research & Development.
• Proven experience directly managing groups of at least 3 people.
• Expertise in soldering & electrical connections preferred.
• B2 level German required for daily use in the workplace. Confidence in English preferred.
