Duties

  • Teaching MBChB and other undergraduate students in theoretical and practical aspects of clinical pharmacology;
  • Clinical supervision of undergraduate students during clinical pharmacology and internal medicine rotations;
  • Teaching postgraduate students in clinical pharmacology (MMed, BSc and diploma) as needed;
  • Academic administration;
  • Continuous and summative evaluation of students;
  • Participating in clinical pharmacology and/or health sciences education-related research.


Job Requirements

  • Qualified pharmacist, medical doctor, or clinical pharmacologist registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) or the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA);
  • At least five years' experience of working in a clinical pharmacology environment;
  • At least three years' experience of practical training of undergraduate students in clinical pharmacology;
  • Experience in teaching and learning;
  • Research experience and a good knowledge of research methodology;
  • Familiar with the environment and the important role players;
  • Fluent communication skills in both English and Afrikaans;
  • Sound organisational skills;
  • The ability to function well within a team;
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Computer literacy (MS Office, specifically Excel).


Recommendation

  • Master's and/or PhD in Pharmacy / Pharmacology or Clinical Pharmacology;
  • Experience in postgraduate student supervision;
  • Experience in curriculum planning;
  • Research and publication outputs;
  • Innovative approach.
