Information Technology Services

Are you interested in guiding one of New Zealand’s largest IT organisations in our transformation to the cloud? The University of Auckland has an exciting opportunity for an architect to define the roadmap for our platforms and infrastructure to enable agile delivery and fanatical customer focus.

The University of Auckland is New Zealand’s leading University. It employs over 5400 academic and professional staff to support over 41,000 students making us one of NZ’s largest employers. This role is part of the Strategy & Design team within IT Services.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Strategy & Design, this role will be responsible for the technology roadmaps that define the direction of our infrastructure and platform services. You will have wide experience across a range of technologies, including containers, public cloud and PaaS services, automation and orchestration tools, and monitoring. A key success factor will be to deliver on a vision of open, orchestrated and autonomous platforms that support self-service and DevOps approaches to the use of our services.

You will support the delivery of key infrastructure transformation projects by being accountable for a solution design that translates the requirements and expected benefits of a project into the technical implementation. You’ll work closely with project teams to evolve the design as the project progresses, and to support quality decision-making throughout the project lifecycle. Effective solution designs recognise that our people and customers are a critical success factor in any project, so you’ll be considering both the human and technology aspects of our projects.

This is a great opportunity to work in a professional, high-influence team with one of Auckland’s largest employers. The University is committed to providing an excellent working environment through flexible employment practices and a culture that encourages and supports staff to reach their full potential.

This is a IEA level position

The University is committed to meeting its obligations under the Treaty of Waitangi and achieving equity outcomes for staff and students in a safe, inclusive and equitable environment.  For further information on services for Māori, Pacific, women, LGBTI, equity groups, parenting support and flexible work go to www.equity.auckland.ac.nz.
