Senior Research Technician

School of Clinical Medicine

The School of Clinical Medicine has a strong focus on the delivery of both phases of the Medicine program across a number of sites within the Brisbane metropolitan area, including but not limited to, the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, Herston; the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Woolloongabba; the Prince Charles Hospital, Chermside, and the St Lucia Campus. Leadership at each site is provided by an experienced academic with responsibility for budget and financial matters, human resource matters and facility management. The School consists of academic staff members across all clinical disciplines and more than 2500 academic title holders.

The role

The successful appointee will be responsible for the day-to-day activities at the Brisbane site of a multi-site clinical trial of N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) treatment in clozapine-resistant schizophrenia, which has recently been funded by an NHMRC grant. The role will involve participant recruitment, data collection, entry and analysis, and document preparation, among other duties relevant to the project.

The person

Applicants should possess a degree in Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience or a closely related field, or have an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education and training. Applicants should be enthusiastic about medical research and have good inter-personal skills and the ability to work as part of a team; and prioritise their workload.

Remuneration

This will be a part-time (0.4FTE) for 12 months, appointment will be at HEW Level 5.  The remuneration package will be in the range of $64,597.80 - $72,348.94 per annum full time equivalent, plus employer superannuation contributions of 9.5%. (Total package will be in the range of $70,734.59 - $79,222.09 per annum per annum full time equivalent).
