Job Purpose

The Birmingham Law School has secured EU funding for a prestigious and exciting Doctoral Training Network project called "Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership". You will be responsible for leading and managing the project, including budget, complex partnership and event management, alongside all administration. You will apply your skills, knowledge and experience to ensure the project is successful by delivering all planned outputs on time and to budget in compliance with a diverse set of internal, consortium and funder requirements. You will build significant links to the beneficiaries, partners, EU finance team and College Graduate School and provide an efficient and effective operational base for the project.

Person Specification

Essential:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably in a Humanities discipline.
- Considerable project management experience with a successful track record of delivering complex projects, in a regulated environment, within timescale and budget.
- Ability to independently devise and implement effective project management systems.
- Proven financial management skills including the ability to understand complex budgets, devise budget monitoring systems, work with a range of currencies and make recommendations as a result of budget analysis.
- Advanced analytical skills (financial, situational and organisational) accompanied by demonstrable risk assessment and mitigation abilities e.g. able to independently identify potential issues as well as propose solutions.
- Considerable experience of stakeholder management and maintaining effective relationships with a broad spectrum of people.
- The ability to gain co-operation from a diverse range of people and organisations with disparate goals.
- Developed networking skills.
- An ability to prioritise and schedule workloads in the face of conflicting demands.
- An ability to use initiative to make sound judgement calls.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills, including experience of writing reports.
- The ability to use the web and social media as a means of communication.
- Advanced IT skills (including Excel and Word) and an understanding of the opportunities IT presents to improve business performance.

Desirable:
- Project management qualification such as PRINCE2
- Expert knowledge of EU funding landscape
- Experience of working in Higher Education
