Salary: Dependent upon qualifications
 

Required Qualifications: DDS/DMD, PhD and/or DrPH or equivalent with a focus on dental public health/international public health. Evidence of a productive research program in a related area ie (epidemiology). Focus on the cause and prevention of oral/dental diseases in underserved, international populations.

Preferred Qualifications: Established record of scientific achievement in oral/general epidemiology, international dental public health and/or clinical prevention strategies. Record of working within an interdisciplinary team of clinicians and researchers. Evidence of the ability to attract research support from foundations, corporate sponsors and/or the National Institutes of Health.

 

Responsibilities & Requirements: Stony Brook University (SBU) recently established the Global Health Institute under the directorship of Dr. Peter Small, a physician and global health expert. A major focus of the University-wide Institute is interdisciplinary research that has the potential to improve international health. The University has focused on the island nation of Madagascar, but the successful candidate will help develop a broader international oral health agenda for the Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine (SBUSDM). The SBUSDM and the Global Health Institute at SBU are committed to establishing excellence in global oral health, and are searching for an early or mid-career faculty member who demonstrates leadership potential to further develop the program, in consideration of SBU's existing strengths.

 

Special Notes: This is a tenure track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.
