The pision has over years earned various accolades due to its excellence in Public Health Research as well clinical sciences. The Division comprises of two departments, Paediatrics and Child Health, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Its Outreach and Research Programme has 9 community-based field site offices and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. It employs over 900 staff and manages 35 + different active research projects. The pision has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that cater the needs of its research projects. With dedicated research faculty members, the pision constantly strives to develop high-impact research projects in consonance with the health improvement strategies of Ministry of Health, Government of Pakistan. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level, not only impacting the health policies but also enabling millions to live an improved life. 

The Umeed-e-Nau (UeN) initiative of the Centre of Excellence (COE) in Women and Child Health aims to support the introduction, scale up and further piloting of high quality and high impact interventions to improve Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (MNCAH) in Pakistan by harnessing the potential of both public and private sectors, coupled with introduction of women and girls empowerment interventions. UeN has two major components; one is to introduce proven effective MNCAH interventions at scale in 14 districts and the second is generate evidence on innovative approaches to improve MNCAH while included in the public health programme in Pakistan.
 

Responsibilities

You will support the supervisor to facilitate the effective implementation, conduct and evaluation of CoE programme and ensure that programme adhere to ethical, medical and humanitarian principles. Specific responsibilities include to:

  • assist the supervisor in development of research instruments for the projects according to their objectives
  • ensure validity of data collected from the field
  • independently conduct interviews and prepare detailed notes for it
  • ensure proper collection of specimen as per the provided guidelines
  • assist the supervisor in visiting field sites to brief them about the study purpose
  • assist field team to monitor all the field staff at the respective field sites to maintain quality control of data
  • follow and ensure field implementation of project related SOPs and guidelines, as defined in the research project
  • assist supervisors in carrying out day to day work on the field
  • prepare and present periodic project related activity reports.


Requirements

You should have:

  • a Master’s degree in Science or Sociology or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • at least two years of related work experience preferably in community research or Paediatrics
  • Integrity and strong research ethics
  • Good interpersonal skills particularly communication skills in English and local languages
  • good command on computer applications, particularly on MS Office package
  • ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively
  • ability to work effectively in teams  and resilience to cope up with work pressure
  • willing to work in the community field sites
  • good report writing skills.
