Job Details
This PhD. Is related to research on solutions for implant encapsulation. These implants should be able to allow data communication and may use wireless power transmission, energy harvesting, battery cells and combination of these technologies to be powered. Estimation of solutions for integration and encapsulation, taking into consideration biocompatibility, reliability, power solution, data communication, … Design and implement a complete system, Proof-of-concept, to be able to evaluate the various solutions thanks to in-vitro and in-vivo studies.
The PhD. student will work on innovative multi-parametric multi-physics theoretical implants models (electromagnetic models, thermal models, mechanical models …) depending on the phenomenon that have to be studied (electromagnetic field disturbances, eddy current, heating and thermal propagation, mechanical resistance…). It will be necessary to validate the theoretical models and simulations thanks to experimental results and to improve them in an iterative way.
This PhD will take place at ValoTec premises next to Paris. This thesis is done in collaboration with the C2N laboratory from the Paris South University.
The student will be able to follow a training program with the other members of the WIBEC consortium. This training program takes place in France, Germany, Norway and Spain.
The PhD student will have to work in collaboration with the other members of the ValoTec team (electronic and mechanical design, regulation and clinical staff…) and with the other members of the WIBEC consortium (private companies, laboratories and hospitals). The PhD student will work in a motivating environment as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
ValoTec:
ValoTec was founded in 2005 and stems from the SATIE laboratory, one of the biggest laboratories in France specialized in electrical engineering. ValoTec develops for its clients, from start-up to large companies, active medical devices, diagnostic devices, software applications for healthcare. ValoTec provides a pragmatic method, by driving in parallel research & development, regulatory assessment and design thinking approach to help its clients from the idea to the manufacturing of the product.
C2N - Université Paris-Sud:
The top-level research carried out at Université Paris-Sud focuses on understanding the world, on its students' success, and on the needs of society. The large number of major awards they have received and the university's high international ranking are proof of the exceptional quality of their research.
C2N (Centre de Nanosciences et de Nanotechnologies) is a public joint research laboratory of CNRS and Université Paris-Sud. Located in the Scientific Centre of Orsay, south of Paris (France), C2N employs over 410 permanent researchers, post-docs, Ph.D. students and administrative staff (http://www.c2n.universite-paris-saclay.fr/en/).
