To fulfill this mission the Quantitative Target Sciences (QTS) group in the Human Genetics and Pharmacogenomics Department (GpGx) is searching for a highly collaborative and inquisitive scientist to join an inter-disciplinary team to transform human disease genetic discoveries into testable therapeutic hypotheses. We are looking for a statistical geneticist, genetic epidemiologist or biostatistician with extensive experience in analyzing and interpreting human genetic data and its association with complex disease and quantitative phenotypes.

The successful candidate will participate in the statistical design and analysis of human genetic studies including common variant association and rare variant association studies from next-generation sequencing and chip-based studies. The candidate should have a solid foundation in statistics and genetics, a strong work ethic, the ability to work independently and an openness to work on highly collaborative teams.

The candidate will develop and leverage academic collaborations, public-private partnerships, data from clinical trials and publicaly available data for the purpose of target identification and validation. This position affords the successful candidate an amazing opportunity to collaborate with scientists from across the organization including biostatistics, epidemiology, chemical-biology, functional genomics and genetics. This statistical genetics position within QTS provides a unique opportunity to harness the power and information from human genetics to support the development of novel therapeutics.

Qualifications

Education:

- PhD

Required:

- Knowledge of experimental design
- Management and analysis of large genetic studies (n > 10,000)
- Knowledge of GWAS statistical genetics software (PLINK/MaCH/SHAPE-IT/IMPUTE2/HLA*IMP/METAL/EPACTS/EIGENSOFT/etc.)
- Statistical programming skills (R/MATLAB/SAS)
- Programming/Scripting skills (Python/Perl/Shell/etc.)
- Knowledge of next-generation sequencing statistical analysis (sample/variant QC, association analysis)
- Knowledge of meta-analysis theory and analysis
- Knowledge of modern summary statistic analysis (LD-score regression, summary statistic imputation, co-localization, etc.)
- Mendelian Randomization

Preferred:

- Minimum of 2 years post degree experience desired (industry preferred) but all experience levels will be considered
