SENIOR ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
PEROMNES POST LEVEL 11

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be expected to contribute to the effective functioning of the OVAH through well-organised administrative and cashier functions and exceptional client service.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 with Accounting as subject;
- Three years’ experience in the following:
- Reception and liaison work;
- Debt collection;
- Creditors maintenance contract agreements;
- Creditors (quotations, orders and receipts);
- Financial Systems, e.g. PeopleSoft;
- Hospital systems;
- MS Office, i.e. Excel and Word;
- Training of staff for use of the financial system and interpretation of client statements;
- Reconciliation of debtor statements and the bank account;
- Corrective journals (debtors)
- Two years’ experience in a cashier function;
- One year experience in over the counter sales.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Organising skills;
- Computer literacy;
- Ability to work under pressure;
- Relative level of physical mobility.
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
- Diploma in Accounting;
- Experience within a veterinary clinic/hospital environment;
- Experience in cashier/debtor/creditor bookkeeping.

The total remuneration package for this position ranges from approximately R 251 355 to R 299 311 as determined by UP policy guidelines. (These amounts include the University’s contributions to standard UP benefits, namely provident fund, group life and funeral cover, but exclude contributions to medical aid, as the latter varies per employee.) UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
