Estate Services is part of the University’s Facilities Directorate, and it is committed to providing first class facilities and fit-for-purpose high quality buildings across the University’s physical environment.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the post holder will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support to designated University departments to identify and implement projects focused on reducing their energy consumption and carbon emissions. The portfolio predominantly covers academic scientific and medical research departments housing some of the world’s most cutting edge research facilities.  This is a strategic role that will investigate the use of low carbon and renewable energy technologies that will deliver cost effective carbon savings.

You will also provide specialist expertise and direction for the Carbon Management Plan in line with the Universities strategic direction.  This will encompass responsibility for identifying carbon and water reduction projects, providing a monitoring and targeting service and raising the profile of carbon, energy and water reduction within the organisation. 

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in delivering carbon savings across a comparable diverse and complex estate in addition to a degree in a related energy/engineering discipline, hold membership of a relevant professional body (CIBSE or Energy Institute). You will possess strong communication skills with the ability to succeed in highly collaborative and collegiate environments that rely on extensive stakeholder engagement.  The role will suit professionals with proven track records in delivering renewable technologies across a similar multi-building portfolio.
