Estate Services is part of the University’s Facilities Directorate, and it is committed to providing first class facilities and fit-for-purpose high quality buildings across the University’s physical environment.

Over the next five years the University is investing £520 million in developing its campus and is seeking to appoint a Maintenance Manager (M&E;) to be responsible for re-prioritising the service being delivered by the Mechanical and Electrical (M&E;) maintenance function in order contribute to the success of this investment. Reporting to the Head of Maintenance, you will be responsible for implementing new structures within your discipline area and driving significant cultural change. You will provide strong line management and specialist technical advice to the team as well as leading specialist external contractors, with a high focus on continuous improvement.  On a daily basis you will be responsible for statutory compliance and maintenance activities for M&E; engineering services. You will also act as a technical ambassador for your discipline and contribute to developing standards for engineering maintenance across the University.

The successful candidate will have significant experience in engineering maintenance management roles across a large scale, diverse and technically complex estate portfolio.  You will have proven experience of leading and motivating a comparable scale internal team of engineering maintenance staff and will be adept at procuring and managing engineering maintenance services via external contractors ensuring performance improvement and value for money.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential as you will be required to work collaboratively across a broad range of stakeholder groups in a leadership role.
