Estate Services is part of the University’s Facilities Directorate, and it is committed to providing first class facilities and fit-for-purpose high quality buildings across the University’s physical environment.

Over the next five years the University is investing £520 million in developing the campus and is seeking to appoint a Maintenance Manager (Building Fabric & Reactive) to be responsible for re-prioritising the service being delivered by the building maintenance function, in order contribute to the success of this investment. Reporting to the Head of Maintenance, you will be responsible for implementing new structures within your discipline area and driving significant cultural change.  You will provide strong line management and specialist technical advice to the team as well as leading specialist external contractors, with a high focus on continuous improvement.  On a daily basis you will be responsible for statutory compliance and building maintenance activities across our property portfolio. You will act as a technical ambassador for your discipline and be responsible for developing standards for building maintenance across the University.

The successful candidate will have significant experience in building fabric and reactive maintenance management roles across a large scale, diverse and technically complex estate portfolio.  You will have proven experience of leading and motivating a comparable scale internal team of fabric and reactive maintenance staff and will be adept at procuring and managing fabric and reactive maintenance services via external contractors ensuring performance improvement and value for money.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential as you will be required to work collaboratively across a broad range of stakeholder groups in a leadership role.
