Job Description:
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • The Quality Control Technician is responsible the operation and cleaning of general laboratory equipment used to support key functional, tactical, and operational aspects of the Quality Control Laboratories at the client’s RTP facility. 
  • This includes but is not limited to the following:
  • Knowledge of commonly used laboratory equipment (autoclave and/or glass washers)
  • Knowledge of cGMP/cGLP requirements and laboratory safety
  • Computer literacy
  • Lifts and carries laboratory solvents/supplies up to 10-20 pounds
  • Remains standing/on feet for extended durations throughout day
  • Exposure to chemicals, dust, fumes, odor, and hazardous lab waste
  • General cleaning of laboratory areas and equipment
  • The Quality Control Technician will adhere to the client’s Quality Systems and apply, as appropriate, to daily functions. 
  • The Technician will communicate with the Supervisor/Manager regarding cGMP compliance and identification of issues and/or corrective actions on the laboratory floor. 
  • The technician will be able to work effectively within the group to promote robust teamwork by having both verbal and written communication skills. 
  • The technician will be able to work with external groups, such as maintenance and validation, to schedule equipment availability.
 
Impact/Influence/Liaison
  • The Quality Control Technician will ensure that the processing of glassware and materials used in routine testing and related activities are completed in a timely manner according to established performance expectations. 
  • Failure to deliver results or meet established expectations may result in compliance issues, significant delays in schedules, financial repercussions, and/or may result in the re-allocation of additional, unplanned resources.
  • The Quality Control Technician has frequent interaction with Quality Control Supervisors, Maintenance, Validation, and Laboratory personnel with the purpose of performing routine testing, supporting laboratory exceptions, personal development, and testing-related issues. 
  • Importantly, the Technician is responsible for operation of laboratory equipment, distribution of processed materials and communicating delays or concerns as appropriate. 
 
Knowledge & Skills
  • The Quality Control Technician position requires but is not limited to the following:
  • Understanding of basic biological science principles; ability to communicate with peers and management; effective organizational skills;
  • Ability to multi-task and coordinate multiple activities in parallel and general knowledge of FDA/EMEA regulations and compliance.
 
Minimum Education Requirements
  • A.S. degree (biological science preferred; or equivalent years of relevant experience) or High School Diploma
 
Minimum Experience Requirements
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience
