Director, Engineering and IT Learning Unit

The Melbourne School of Engineering (MSE) at the University of Melbourne is the leading provider of engineering and IT education in Australia. The Engineering & IT Learning Unit (ELU) within MSE was established to enrich and enhance the quality of teaching and learning and provide a focus for scholarship regarding teaching and learning in engineering and information technology. The ELU is now undergoing a transformation to be more focused on staff development and support.

The Director is responsible for managing a team that comprises both academic and professional staff and provides the MSE with expertise in teaching and learning in higher education, in particular with respect to the MSE’s strategic objectives. The Director also monitors and evaluates trends in the higher education sector and current research on learning and teaching and liaises with colleagues in other similar units in the University. The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Engineering, IT or equivalent, have a demonstrated track record of research publications in an engineering or IT discipline and/or in education, and possess strong leadership credentials as well as the ability to work collaboratively to introduce teaching innovations and support teaching staff in their development.
