Job Details
The Liggins Institute is one of the world’s leading centres for research on foetal and child health, nutrition, development, breast cancer, epigenetics and evolutionary medicine.
A unique opportunity has arisen for a technician interested in sheep-based research at the Liggins Institute Research Farm Laboratory, part of the University of Auckland, located south of Rotorua.
The role
In this position, you will:
- Actively participate in research, the management of research equipment, ordering of goods and charge-out administration
- Support animal health management, from monitoring animals’ health and welfare to assisting with feeding and watering
- Provide surgical support and assistance, ensuring compliance with legal and institutional requirements
Who are we looking for?
- You’ll need to be tertiary-trained in an animal science or veterinary nursing, with knowledge of husbandry and care of large domestic livestock.
- Practical skills and experience monitoring sheep health and welfare are ideal.
- Proficient computer skills, including database management, are also important requirements.
