RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • The administration of all activities with regard to undergraduate applications, student administration, student records and examinations;
  • The registration and orientation of students;
  • The administration of examinations and relevant matters;
  • Electronically capturing marks;
  • Being actively involved during graduation ceremonies;
  • Capturing and maintaining data on student records;
  • Service rendering at the Faculty’s information counter;
  • The processing of correspondence (written and e-mail);
  • Office administration;
  • Handling enquiries and other aspects of student administration;
  • Ad hoc tasks within Student Administration as determined by line-manager and Head of Student Administration.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification with at least one years’ experience in student administration (undergraduate) at a tertiary institution; OR
  • A Grade 12 certificate with at least three years’ experience in student administration (undergraduate) at a tertiary institution.

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft, MS Word, Excel, GroupWise and the internet;
  • Sound interpersonal skills, motivational skills and ability to work independently;
  • Ability to liaise with clients from diverse backgrounds and cultures;
  • A positive client service attitude;
  • Appropriate language and communication skills (reading, writing and speaking);
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

 

PLEASE NOTE: All shortlisted candidates may be required to participate in relevant skills assessments as part of the selection process.

The total remuneration package for this position ranges from approximately R 289 721 to R 347 490 as determined by UP policy guidelines. (These amounts include the University’s contributions to standard UP benefits, namely provident fund, group life and funeral cover, but exclude contributions to medical aid, as the latter varies per employee.) UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
