Job Details

The West of England has been ranked as the best place in the UK to do business. It has a thriving tech cluster as well as world class strengths in a number of other sectors. There’s a lot of great stuff going on.

But it could be better. We want to make sure that the Bristol & Bath area is THE BEST place to scale a business and that every business – be it tech, creative, social enterprise, food, fashion, energy, whatever – fulfils its potential and in the process makes the city-region a more inclusive economy.

We are looking for a bright, dynamic, creative and hyper-organised individual to enable the scale-up ecosystem in the West of England by connecting people, organisations and businesses – joining up the dots and spotting the gaps.

You have a year to understand, map and enhance the Scale-up ecosystem in the West of England, for the key sectors. While there’ll be a natural focus on the tech sector, there is so much more potential than that, so you’ll need to find the common ground and deliver the events, connections and communications that make this region fly.

You’ll provide key stakeholders with the evidence, insights and support that they need to represent the area at national and international level – but also be the ‘go-to’ person for businesses, government and press on all things ‘scale-up’.

This is initially a 1 year post funded by the West of England LEP, Business West, The University of Bristol and Engine Shed – and will be primarily based at Engine Shed in central Bristol.

You’re passionate about business, a self-starter, an organiser, a connector and are driven by wanting to make the Bristol & Bath area a much, much better place, for everyone.

The University is committed to creating and sustaining a fully inclusive culture.  We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and communities.
