Job Details

Do you have experience of carrying out or contributing to original research? Are you enthusiastic about public engagement and collaboration with external partners, especially with creative and heritage industries? Do you have high-level reading knowledge of German and excellent communication skills in English?

Project title: Kiel Uprising: Women’s activism and the German Revolution November 1918

You will make a significant contribution to a major Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) funded project on women’s role in the German revolution of November 1918, and your research and project management expertise will feed directly into two major creative projects planned for 2018 as part of commemoration activities for the First World War Centenary. The projects will tell the untold stories of the women who helped build the Weimar Republic who were at the cusp of a new era. They will challenge the inward-looking approach and the focus on military defeat and victory that has characterised much of the First World War centenary commemorations in the UK and focus instead on the German perspective.

With a PhD in a relevant subject (completed or near completion) and experience of public engagement and collaboration with external partners, you will support the delivery of the project’s research outputs, and will have the opportunity to produce an independent piece of research in your own right.  You will utilise your project management and event management skills to coordinate all project activities, acting as a bridge across the project team.
