Duties and responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the review of applications to ensure the effective functioning of HSREC meetings.
  • Assist with correspondence and follow-up with researchers regarding ethics applications.
  • Assist with post-meeting processing of new applications and subsequent submissions.
  • Handle and screen incoming ethics submission queries from researchers and other internal stakeholders.
  • Advise researchers on HSREC processes.
  • Manage and problem solve electronic, telephonic and walk-in enquiries.
  • Inherent requirements:

  • Grade 12.
  • Experience in research ethics administration.
  • Required competencies:

  • Intermediate computer skills, including but not limited to MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to function with ease in the University's richly diverse working environment.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage processes effectively and independently.
  • Planning, prioritising and managing deadlines.
  • Ability to function under pressure
  • Recommendations:

  • B degree in relevant discipline.
  • Post-graduate qualification including training in research ethics.
  • Must possess discretion and mature judgment as confidential information is routinely encountered.
  • Assumption of duties:
    01 April 2017.
