Summary:
The Senior Director Global Commodity & Supplier Management will have full responsibility over defined global commodity spend and lead a team of commodity managers. Primary focus is on enhancing the current commodity strategy and structure, to achieve improved cost and supply stability to the business. Aside from developing and executing focused productivity and cost savings programs with external and internal supply chain partners, he will be tasked to design and implement a comprehensive and holistic supplier management program. The role is part of the procurement management team and key contributor in the transformation of the organization towards world class. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Safeguarding of a market-leading performance position at competitive costs for respective material fields, derived from business requirements and overarching SCM Strategy – in order to generate an optimized contribution to business performance.
  • Initiate and expedite targeted cost reduction programs. Derive innovative material field strategies based on market intelligence and overall procurement strategy and gear procurement processes towards strategic objectives. Initiation, planning, execution and control of demand pooling.
  • Strategically manage and optimize the supply network (pooled direct). Strive to optimally leverage supplier’s capabilities and cost position. Develop and manage strategic partner alliances as well as drive Supplier Management processes (e.g. evaluation, development, initiatives, control) to obtain best suppliers.
  • Actively drive application of technical levers for sustainable cost and value optimization, (e.g. Commodity Engineering, Early Supplier Involvement, Lean@suppliers) and leverage cross-functional network.
  • Implement material field specific benchmarking and best practice sharing with the continental/regional organizations, with external partner companies as well as with competitors to further improve procurement within the material field.
  • Select, manage, assess, develop and coach employees in the area of responsibility to ensure long-term corporate success with motivated staff. Define and monitor targets and KPIs for the respective commodity business field.
  • Act as the direct partner link to the management of the business units / corporate functions. Ensure active regular communication and information exchange with all interested parties.
