Post-Doctoral Research Associates/Fellows

The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis is recruiting post-doctoral research associates/fellows to participate in NIH funded programs. The Haspel lab focuses on the role of biological timing in chronic lung disease and critical illness related to circadian rhythms and aging.  Topics include: 1) circadian clock genes in antiviral defense; 2) clock genes in chronic airway disease; and, 3) the role of aging in the establishment of lung pathology.  The Brody lab focuses on ciliated cell biology related to lung disease. Topics include: 1) the regulation of airway epithelial stem cells and cell fate; 2) genetic causes of multiciliated disease, primary ciliary dyskinesia; and 3) ciliated cell function in acquired lung diseases. Successful candidates will have a strong background in bench-level molecular and cell biology or biochemistry.  Prior experience with mouse models is helpful.  These full-time and benefit-eligible positions offer opportunities for independent and collaborative research, as well as participation in grant and manuscript writing.  US citizenship, a permanent or temporary work visa is required, and recent PhD graduates will receive special consideration.
