The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) is a public institution with the mandate to contribute to the improvement of the health of populations internationally and nationally through excellence in research, services, and teaching and training.

In the frame of a consortium with the Swiss School of Public Health+ (SSPH+), the Institute of Economics (IdEP) of the Università della Svizzera Italiana (USI) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooparation (SDC), we are seeking for the position of a Administrative Scholarship Coordinator for the Summer School in Public Health Policy, Economics and Management.

Within the SSPH+ Lugano Summer School Swiss TPH manages a scholarship programme for health professionals from low- and middle-income countries. Within this programme, your tasks will be:

  • Scholarship programme coordination and collaboration with course coordinators, consortium partners and external stakeholders
  • Collaboration with consortium partners in setting up the course program
  • Relationship management and collaboration with SDC country offices
  • Participation in the committee responsible for the identification of participants eligible for SDC scholarships
  • Management of travel, accommodation, health insurance, visa and all logistical and practical issues relating to the participation of scholarship students in the SSPH+ Summer School in Lugano
  • Content assessment of Summer School activities and conformity with objectives of SDC scholarship holders attending courses.
  • Responsibility for annual and final project evaluation, to be submitted to SDC
  • Participation into the planning of future project phases

 

We are looking for a person with good communication skills and experience in managing the organization of teaching events. As the workload is not equally distributed over the year, we expect flexibility in your availability related to actual workload. To best fit into our active, interdisciplinary team, we expect the following qualifications:

  • Administrative experience in managing scholarships of educational programmes
  • Flexibility in distribution of total workload over the year, especially during the course of the Summer School in August/September (10 days mandatory presence in Lugano)
  • Flexibility for occasional visits to collaborators in Lugano
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office software, web-based online platforms and communication tools
  • Excellent command of English
  • Italian language skills would be an asset
  • Experience in the fields of Public Health or Health Economics would be an asset

 

The regular workplace is Basel.
