Laboratory Manager, Additives for Paints & Coatings, Bielefeld

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with Team Lead experience to step up as Laboratory Manager for Research & Development as part of a company that manufacture, develop and distribute specialty additives and intermediate raw materials to the Paints & Coatings industry with a presence in over 100 countries and subsidiaries in 13 countries worldwide.

Reporting to the Global R&D Director, you will be one of the key drivers in the business for new product and new technology development and will have a hand-in in supporting the Director in formulating business strategy, allowing you to have strategic input in addition to your hands-on operational duties, giving you more variety on a regular basis. You will be working as part of a young, dynamic international team within Research & Development surrounded by employees who are motivated, hard-working and technically knowledgable, giving you a great working environment that you will being part of every day.

The company you will be working for have a huge development pipeline with new customer projects and new products being signed off on a very regular basis, so you will get to work on a wide variety of products and projects during your time with the company, ensuring you stay engauged and challenged. Your focus will be managing one of the R&D Laboratories for the development of Biocidal products for Paints & Coatings, involving polymer synthesis, formulations development and some on-site work (up to 10%) with customers focused around applications testing, allowing you to take the full-overview of the development cycle.

Requirements:

• Completed training as a Lacklaborant OR an Academic Degree in Chemistry
• Minimum 5 years experience in Research & Development in the Paints & Coatings industry
• Strong practical knowledge of formulating solvent-borne coating systems
• Proven leadership experience managing a team of at least 3 people
• Fluent German and a good level of English essential
