Job Purpose

The postholder will provide the research administrative support for the Centre of Precision Rehabilitation for Spinal Pain; based in the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Birmingham. The Centre is under the direction of Professor Deborah Falla and DR Alison Rushton.

This busy and challenging role will include research administration for The Centre of Precision Rehabilitation for Spinal Pain and the wider research group’s activities, including Prof Falla and Dr Rushton. This will include liaising with research partners both in universities and companies, ensuring efficient organisation and marketing of training events run through the Centre, as well as financial administration, diary management, travel planning, providing assistance with the preparation of reports, and assistance with the preparation of reports, and assistance with the preparation of funding applications .

Person Specification

  • • Good general education, at least to undergraduate degree level or equivalent professional experience and evidence of continuing professional development or further learning
  • • Relevant experience in roles that demonstrate the ability or potential to carry out the role as described and its duties
  • • Excellent organisational skills with outstanding ability to prioritise and schedule workloads
  • • Experience of managing delegated budgets
  • • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with a wide range of people
  • • Excellent IT skills including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, and the ability and willingness to quickly learn new software in support of the role, e.g. for website development
  • • Strong team working attitude and experience
  • • Excellent attention to detail
  • • Flexibility to take on a wide variety of tasks, taking account of the need to manage competing demands and busy workload
  • • A high level of professionalism and discretion is required, particularly when dealing with information of a confidential nature
  • • Demonstrable experience in project or financial management
