Are you medically qualified and committed to a career in clinical academia? Are you committed to performing a PhD in cardiovascular medicine? Do you want to receive bespoke research training whilst conducting a clinical research project in one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities?

You will join our cardiovascular PhD programme as a Clinical Research Fellow conducting cutting-edge research for a project which encompasses our internationally recognised expertise in imaging, heart failure, pacing, and/or the cardiovascular impact of diabetes. A specific project focus will be defined with you after appointment. This role will give you the opportunity to undertake a research training programme to enable you to develop the skills required to become an independent academic, and includes optional training courses at the Medtronic Academy. You will be closely supported throughout this process by the programme team and provided with an experienced and successful clinical-academic mentor.

You will hold GMC registration with a licence to practice or eligible to register and will have successfully completed UK Foundation medical training, or equivalent, by the starting date of the post. You will also have demonstrable experience of participating in health related research, motivation to pursue a PhD, and commitment to a career in clinical academia.
