Job Details

Are you an enthusiastic and motivated researcher with an interest in the global water challenges facing society and the environment? Would you like to be a key part of a team creating a new web platform to communicate scientific water data to decision makers on a global scale? Are you interested in the opportunity to gain experience working alongside internationally recognised charities and industry partners?

CatchX is a new NERC-Innovations project which will translate existing scientific data from global models and remote sensing products into a web platform. CatchX aims to enable decision makers at a river catchment level to have access to the latest cutting-edge information to address urgent water resource challenges faced all over the world. The project is in collaboration with the Earthwatch Institute, whose aim is to engage people worldwide in scientific field research and education to promote the understanding and action necessary for a sustainable environment.

You will work in collaboration with the main partner Earthwatch to develop the core web platform, and with Rhodes University in South Africa to test the platform for the Breede River Catchment using local data. You will be based at Leeds and it is not anticipated that you will need to visit South Africa as part of your role.
