We are seeking to appoint This post offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced health services researcher with a particular interest in outcomes to join the research team in the Surgical Innovation theme of the new National Institute for Health Research Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) Bristol within the School of Social and Community Medicine, University of Bristol.

The post holder will work with key members in the BRC Bristol Surgical Innovation theme to undertake applied research across a number of projects. Using mixed methods research methodology, you will work primarily on a workstream to develop better ways to select, assess and report outcomes of surgical innovation, including clinical and adverse events, and develop minimal mandated sets of outcomes for the evaluation of surgery and innovation. Further projects will be defined during the course of the post.

This post provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience in working with a team of multi-disciplinary collaborators on specific research questions and to contribute to the design of future studies linked to the Biomedical Research Centre Bristol surgical innovation theme, culminating in peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations. The successful applicant will be able to continue training in relevant aspects of health services research by taking advantage of the short courses run by the school. This post will also provide opportunities to teach and develop an independent research portfolio.
