Research Specialist (Research Data Management), Centre of Excellence in Women and Child Health

The pision has over years earned various accolades due to its excellence in Public Health Research as well clinical sciences. The Division comprises of two departments, Paediatrics and Child Health, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Its Outreach and Research Programme has 9 community-based field site offices and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. It employs over 900 staff and manages 35 + different active research projects. The pision has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that cater the needs of its research projects. With dedicated research faculty members, the pision constantly strives to develop high-impact research projects in consonance with the health improvement strategies of Ministry of Health, Government of Pakistan. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level, not only impacting the health policies but also enabling millions to live an improved life.  

The Centre of Excellence in Women and Child Health represents flagship research programs on Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (RMNCH). The Centre is well-placed to potentially address priority research issues of relevance to women and children in developing countries, with a large existing portfolio of work related to infectious diseases, perinatal health and outcomes, maternal and child nutrition, and early childhood development.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for supervision of statistical aspects of research projects including study design, protocol development, sample size estimation, subject randomization, statistical analysis and presentation of research data. Your specific responsibilities will be to:

• maintain consistent analytical approaches and reporting formats within and across other research studies and interpret results of research studies analysis to the supervisor
• write programmes to select, retrieve, manipulate, edit and analyze research data
• review all project protocols and data collection tools to ensure that collected data meet projects’ needs and statistical and scientific requirements in time
• provide support in data presentation for publication of research studies results
• liaison with project supervisors, principal investigators and departmental head
• ensure the integrity of research projects data and provide supervision in data quality assurance
• assist data management staff in the design of study databases, review study database structures and data management project conventions
• provide support in statistical workshops and seminars of the department.

Requirements

You should have:

• Masters in Statistics or Computer Science
• at least three years of experience preferably in the field of research
• excellent command on SPSS / Stata and other statistical software
• proficient in spread sheets and power point presentations
• sound knowledge of databases and programming
• strong verbal and written communication skills
• good management skills
• willingness to travel for national and international visits on regular basis.
