Job Details
The Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is the leading unit of its type in Pakistan, recognized regionally and internationally for the relevance, quality and extent of its work in support of public health and the development of primary health care systems.
The Global Network for Women’s and Children’s Health Research is the flagship research collaboration of the Reproductive Health research group at Department of Community Health Sciences. At the Global Network research site in Thatta, a prospective, population-based active surveillance of pregnancies is maintained. The data from the registry/surrveillance also provides the mortality and morbidity outcomes for Global Network trials and help investigators plan future studies.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- assisting overall coordination of the research project
- communicating with collaborators, investigators and coordinating activities and meetings
- working on proposal, Ethics Review Committee documents, developing field manuals and operational procedures for the study
- developing study implementation plan and supervising implementation of questionnaires
- working closely with Data Management team on data errors, forms tracking, and verification and validation of cases for stipends
- responding to queries raised from Data Coordinating Centre and Donor Agency about research data
- developing training manuals for medical officers, field workers, data entry and lab staff
- conducting training of research team, Doctors and Traditional Birth Attendants to standardize the skills for collecting information and implementing various strategies of the project
- ensuring data quality by reviewing 10% of forms
- preparing activity plans and schedules for field/ clinic activities and monitoring research team activities in the field/clinic.
- visiting field site to supervise and cross checking data collected regularly
- assisting in data compilation, analysis, presentation and writing reports
- follow up of study subjects in field/clinic.
Requirements
You should have:
- Master’s degree or above in field relevant to social sciences/education
- at least six years’ of experience in community based health research projects with relevant experience in childhood neurocognitive assessment
- technical skills related to study implementation, monitoring and evaluation
- basic knowledge about Obstetric Ultrasound and experience of managing ultrasound machines
- good interpersonal skills and management capabilities
- excellent analytical skills and ability to evaluate data independently
- good computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets
- fluency in written and spoken English and Urdu; however fluency in regional languages will be an asset.
