Research Officer, Light Imaging Microscopy

The University's Institute for Molecular Bioscience is a leading global research institute. IMB was established in 2000 as UQ's first research institute and is the cornerstone of one of the largest bioscience research precincts in Australia.

The Institute's microscopy facility is acquiring ground-breaking imaging technologies, including a Lattice Light Sheet Microscope. The Research Officer, Light Imaging Microscopy is required to develop and carry out imaging for research projects in collaboration with researchers, using a variety of techniques and imaging modalities to facilitate research from within the University as well as with external collaborations. The role will facilitate the implementation and outcomes of imaging through participation in the design, conduct, analysis and reporting on experiments. The role is essential for providing training and technical assistance, including in advanced imaging modalities, to researchers at the Institute and to help maintain equipment operability, optimization and innovation.

The successful candidate should have a a relevant doctoral qualification in Biomedical or Life Sciences, and will ideally bring strong experience and high level skills in optical fluorescence microscopy, with knowledge of the current status of optical imaging techniques and instrumentation. An excellent academic record and achievements will be essential, with demonstrated ability and potential for excellence and productivity in research, including publications, conference papers or reports. You should also have an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve research outcomes

The position is a full-time, fixed-term Academic level A role for three years with the potential for renewal and subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation for new appointees. The remuneration package will be in the range $64,533.49 - $87,535.13 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $75,504.19 - $102,416.10 p.a.).
