Job Details

We have an excellent opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our committed team in the University Secretary’s Office (Legal Services). This is a maternity cover post for approximately one year.

As our Information Rights Assistant you will provide support to the Information Governance Manager to ensure the University meets its statutory requirements in relation to information legislation, such as the Data Protection Act (and incoming General Data Protection Regulation), Freedom of Information Act, Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations and Environmental Information Regulations.

The role involves working to fixed legal deadlines, liaising with external requesters and senior staff from all areas of the University, so the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner, communicate clearly and build relationships is key. The essential criteria include: proven experience of completing tasks to a high level of accuracy, with attention to detail and a methodical approach to work; excellent organisational and IT/office skills and the ability to demonstrate tact and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.

You should be educated to at least A level standard or equivalent and prior knowledge and experience of handling information requests in a large organisation is desirable.

This is a part time role (0.5 FTE) with the working pattern to be agreed.

For informal enquiries, please contact Claire Rawls, Acting Information Governance Manager (claire.rawls@bristol.ac.uk or 0117 394 1827).

The University is committed to creating and sustaining a fully inclusive culture. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and communities.
