Salary:  £37,075 to £46,924 Pro rata per annum

Part Time Fixed Term (up to 5 years, 14 hour per week)

A position is available in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Southampton for a Senior Research Fellow.  The position is based at Aldermoor Health Centre in Primary Care and Population Sciences, and is funded by the Chiropractic Research Council.  The post holder will work on research projects in areas relevant to chiropractic practice in the UK. Chiropractic is a regulated profession in the UK concerned with primary care management of musculoskeletal conditions such as back and neck pain.  The post holder will primarily be responsible for planning and delivering high quality research aligned to a specified programme of research, for project management and for supervising a research team of PhD students.

You will be educated to degree level and must have a PhD or equivalent professional qualification and experience in a health or social science (e.g. sociology, psychology).  Previous experience of working on health-related studies in primary care is essential, as is experience in supervising PhD students.  Previous experience of chiropractic-related research and success at achieving competitive grant awards is highly desirable; at interview, you will be required to present a five-year strategy for a successful research programme to facilitate the development and advancement of chiropractic practice in the UK.  You will possess excellent organisational and communication skills, computing and statistical analysis skills, and the ability to work as part of a team.  

This post is part time (2 days a week) for a period of five years and is available from 1st July 2017.
