Job Details

Faculty of Science - Computer Science

NeSI - New Zealand eScience Infrastructure - is New Zealand's computing research infrastructure. We provide high performance computers and support systems to enable the country's researchers to tackle the world's largest problems. NeSI is an unincorporated body, with investment from New Zealand universities, Crown Research Institutes and the Crown, through the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment. Our primary aim is to grow the computing and analytics capability of researchers to ensure New Zealand’s future prosperity.

Significant research outcomes have resulted from the use of NeSI platforms and services across several scientific domains including health, biodiversity, biochemistry and geology to name a few.  Researchers often depend on advanced high performance computing (HPC) capabilities to achieve their goals, and NeSI is at the forefront of this innovation.

The Service Development role, whilst employed by the University of Auckland, is a NeSI national role. Your primary responsibilities will be to manage service development and delivery to create efficiency. A key goal of the role is to work alongside the team and researchers to support stakeholder value realisation, monitoring and reporting.

This is a specialised role, requiring a strong background in driving service design and client experience, change management, as well as extensive previous experience in HPC/research/complex IT computing. As a member of a team that is providing national solutions in the high-performance computing and eScience domain, you will have the opportunity to work with colleagues across the country and internationally to develop and deliver a state-of-the art eScience infrastructure.

If you’re interested in picking up a national challenge and being a part of something unique, then this role may be for you! NeSI has been central to significant research outcomes including: improving the treatment of heart disease through stent design as well as the design of better wind turbines for more efficient power generation. These are just two of our success stories.  Join us in creating more as we continue to innovate and support the research community in New Zealand and beyond.

The University is committed to meeting its obligations under the Treaty of Waitangi and achieving equity outcomes for staff and students in a safe, inclusive and equitable environment.  For further information on services for Māori, Pacific, women, LGBTI, equity groups, parenting support and flexible work go to www.equity.auckland.ac.nz.

Applications close on Sunday 2nd April. All applications must be made online.

This is a fixed term position until mid-2018. Professional staff, over level 6 position.
