Job Details

The University of Bristol invites applications to a permanent Lectureship (Lecturer B) in Modern American History. A specialism in the history of race and/or Native American history would be an asset, but we are keen to consider candidates who can demonstrate excellence in any area of expertise in the broad field of Modern American History.

The successful applicant will be expected to contribute fully to high-quality teaching and administration within the Department of History and to pursue research in her/his area of specialism to the highest standards in order to enhance the international research profile of the Department, the School of Humanities, and the Faculty of Arts. The appointment start date is 1st September 2017.

Salary: Starting salary £36,001- £40,523

Timescale of appointment:

Long-listed candidates will be notified on or about 12th May 2017. They will be required to submit a sample of their work (in English, not more than 10,000 words) as soon as possible after notification but no later than 17th May 2017.

Short-listed candidates will be notified on or about 26th May 2017 and invited to interview. They will be required to submit brief outlines for 2 units they might teach, to be sent to the Executive Support Team at: hums-academicsupport@bristol.ac.uk.
