The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC) is the technical university of Catalonia with its base campus located in the city of Barcelona. It is one of the largest technical universities of southern EU, with over 30,000 students spanning all levels from undergraduate to PhD, and employing over 2,500 faculty. The Departament de Matematiques of the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (UPC) invite applications for a postdoc position in Number Theory. A postdoctoral appointment is offered for researchers in Mathematics with an excellent curriculum vitae having completed a PhD within the last 4 years. The candidate is expected to work on subjects related to the ERC Consolidator Grant "Euler systems and the conjectures of Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer, Bloch and Kato" held by Victor Rotger and to be in charge of teaching duties.
Description
The appointment will start on September 1st, 2017. The place of work will be the Departament de Matematiques at the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, in Barcelona (Spain) within the number theory research group under the advice of Victor Rotger.
The contract will be for a gross amount of around 20.000 euros per year.
Additional Requirements
The candidates should be strongly motivated and have a solid background in Number Theory: elliptic curves, modular forms and (p-adic) L-functions.

A. Research project for the next year, focussing on the theory of p-adic L-functions, Iwasawa theory, p-adic Hodge theory, Euler systems, the conjectures of Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer and Bloch-Kato (max. 5 pages).
B. Curriculum vitae (max. 5 pages), including a short description of past research. Contributions to the research lines mentioned above may be highlighted.
C. One letter of recommendation.
