Assistant Officer (post level 13)

Duties and responsibilities:
Market the services of KovsieGear, the merchandise shop on the Bloemfontein campus, to internal and external stakeholders.
Organise product exhibitions on campuses among others open days, graduation ceremonies, and first-year welcoming ceremonies.
Assist with product and merchandise development of new products by liaising with designated customer groupings regarding quotations and the ordering of merchandise after approval from management.
Ensure professional customer service.
Ensure neatness and lay out of the front shop.
Responsible for window exhibition of the front shop.
Responsible for other administrative duties in the retail environment: cash up and daily banking, stock taking and price tagging of new stock.
Monitor shop stock levels on the Bloemfontein and Qwaqwa campus.
Assist with other projects and campaigns of KovsieGear.
Assist with projects and campaigns of the Department of Communication and Brand Management.

Inherent requirements:
- Grade 12.
Required competencies:
- Intermediate computer skills, including but not limited to MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to function with ease in the University’s richly diverse working environment.
- Be able to work under pressure.
- Customer orientated personality.
- Excellent networking and relationship building.
- Willingness and availability to work irregular hours and travel.
Recommendations:
- Knowledge of the retail environment and financial computer systems such as Pastel and Excel.
- Understand and demonstrate knowledge and core functions and operations of a corporate/tertiary environment.
- Proven knowledge of products in the clothing and corporate gift merchandise environment.
- One (1) to two (2) years’ relevant experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ retail experience.
