ICTISE and IBP Project Coordinator (post level 10)

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ICTISE projects, including Internet Broadcast Project (IBP) related project proposals and tenders documents.
  • Perform managerial duties (administrative, reporting and financial management) arising from the development and operation of the IBP and other ICTISE projects.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Track and analyse project performance, cost performance, schedule and report weekly to the IDEAS Lab Director on the changes in project scope, project schedule, and project costs, and suggest the improvements.
  • Provide a weekly report regarding the activities of the IBP project to the IDEAS Lab Director.
  • Provide a monthly statistical IBP user report to the IDEAS Lab Director.
  • Coordinate the efforts of the IBP team to ensure that the project runs according to a tight schedule and that all IBP outputs are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Take responsibility for the coordination of support team visits to IBP schools and districts.
  • Take responsibility for good liaison and co-operation with all stakeholders (education departmental officials, subject advisors, principals, teachers and learners) to ensure the use of, and impact of the project is maximised.
  • Take responsibility for proper and regular communication to schools participating in the IBP project, including assistance with addressing end-user problems (non-IT related).
  • Take responsibility for the development of materials to be used by centres in IBP project.
  • Take responsibility for the organisation of school visits and building of strong relationships with schools.
  • Coordinate the identification of coordination with expert teachers that present lessons and the processing of their monthly claims forms.
  • Take responsibility for the termly broadcast programme.
  • Coordinate and assist with the arrangements of special events related to the IBP or other school projects.
  • Take co-responsibility for the development of ICTISE projects as examples of excellence with regard to addressing challenges in education by making use of technology.
  • Schedule, coordinate and attend IBP meetings at National and Provincial offices.
  • Coordinate (and conduct where needed) the support and training offered to the Education Departments, schools and districts in the use of IBP and resources involved in the IBP.
  • Inherent requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree.
  • Three (3) years' experience in project management.
  • Required competencies:

  • High level of ICT knowledge and experience in the use thereof within an educational environment.
  • Experience in projects that involve the integration and use of ICT.
  • Excellent organisation ability and task orientation.
  • Excellent language proficiency in at least two official languages, of which English must be one.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to inspire both adults and learners.
  • The ability to function with ease in the University's parallel­medium and richly diverse working environment.
  • Willingness to travel and visit schools in remote places.
  • Intermediate computer skills including, but not limited to MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
  • Strong writing skills in English.
  • Ability to function effectively as a member of a team, as well as independently.
  • Be able to work well under pressure.
  • Time management skills and the ability to cope with several projects at a time.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Being open to feedback and willing to make changes.
  • Recommendations:

  • Experience in the higher education sector.
