Be the lead for growth, innovation and cultivating links with partners

A proven strategic leader; you will be a key player in fulfilling the vision and ambitions of the Faculty of Education. You will have the communication skills required to build relationships, to positively engage with and influence diverse stakeholder groups.

You will hold a first degree and a PhD in relevant disciplines along with a substantial record of achievement as an academic and experience of senior management.

Able to integrate research and teaching, you will connect and collaborate with academics and professionals outside academia, and have the vision and capability to implement change. 

You will support the Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean in the leadership and management of the Faculty and support the Faculty’s vision and academic direction. You will ensure that the Education portfolio remains fit for purpose and is underpinned by relevant research and practice.

You will oversee the integration of high quality research and innovative teaching across all aspects of student learning stretching across undergraduate, masters level and research degree provision.

A key requirement of the role is the development of mutually beneficial and effective partnerships, productive collaborations and influential relationships with students, alumni, and with external stakeholders and regulatory bodies.

The Faculty is focused on advancing the discipline and practice of education achieved through, and measured by, high quality teaching and research and through its support for schools and colleges in collaborative research and training partnerships.

The Faculty has research strengths in education policy development, in educational leadership; and in inclusion and social justice.  Research into social class and widening participation entitled ‘Improving equality and outcomes in higher education’ gained a 4* in the most recent REF assessment of ‘Impact’ and the Faculty will continue to build on outstanding research on access to higher education and ‘learning gain’.
