Job Details

We are seeking a talented postdoctoral researcher with experience in genetic epidemiology, statistical genetics, medical statistics, epidemiology and/or causal analysis methods. The successful candidate will join the vibrant interdisciplinary research environment in the MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit on a collaborative project with GlaxoSmithKline PLC and Biogen Inc.

The senior research associate (SRA) will work on the application of Mendelian randomization to determining causality of targets and biomarkers. The work will centre on a novel analytical platform and database (MR-Base) developed within the IEU. The SRA will work on a combination of development/implementation of novel methods within MR-Base, application of MR to specific targets and automated in silico biomarker screening using MR.

The successful applicant will have experience of applied statistical analysis, ideally working with genetic association study data, and will be qualified to the PhD level (or equivalent) in a cognate discipline. Strong computing/scripting skills (especially in R), and an ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment would be an advantage. Interaction with our industrial collaborators will form part of the role, and the SRA will be offered the opportunity of research visits to industrial and academic collaborators.
